Welcome to our December 2024 issue of our Neighbourhood Update for CBS Secondary School, Kilkenny. Please take a moment to read this notice about the upcoming works in your locality
Works since last neighbourhood update
Section 7A (School and associated site works)
- Ongoing internal fitout
- Ongoing externals completion including external envelope and roof of the school.
- External Site works ongoing
Section 7B (including East Dunningstown)
- CBS Access Road Tarmac Basecourse and Binder ongoing including Dunningstown.
- Kerbing and Footpaths nearing completion.
- Accommodation Works to Private Entrances along Dunningstown Road ongoing
- Single Lane TMP for Dunningstown East ongoing
- Completion of Road Build up at Dunningstown Junction ongoing
Section 7C (including West Dunningstown)
- Single Lane TMP for Dunningstown West ongoing
- Completion of Road Build up at Dunningstown Junction ongoing
- Completed Kerbing and Footpaths
Section 7D (including Talbots Gate/Court and Freshford Road Junction)
- Kerbing and footpaths ongoing
- Installation of below Ground services ongoing.
- Talbots Court Traffic to enter Dunningstown Road allowing Road works on Main access Road in Talbots. Part road closure in Talbots Court ongoing.
All the necessary Health and Safety systems and traffic management will be put in place to always ensure your safety during these works.
CONSTRUCTION WORK HOURS & PARKING
Monday to Friday – as per planning.
Saturday – as per planning.
Provision for parking has been made within our compound (Lands off Dunningstown Road South adjacent to the new
school) for our construction workers and for all construction related traffic.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT
As the Main Contractor the health and safety of our workers and the public is a top priority for JJ Rhatigan/ABM.
It is important that children/teenagers understand that construction sites are not a safe place to play, and they
should not try to enter construction sites at any time and/or MUST NOT ENTER SITE AT ANY TIME. We would appreciate parents’ assistance in getting this point across to young children.
Construction sites are defined as high-risk work areas with those who work on site having specialised training and
equipment to undertake their tasks.

care regarding the appearance of our site, respect the community in which we work, protect the environment by our methods of working and choice of design and materials, secure everyone’s safety and value our workforce. We strive to maintain the highest standards on all our projects.
UPCOMING WORKS
Section 7B and 7C
- Dunningstown Road (West and East) 2-way traffic opening to the General Public from 15th November 2024
Section 7D (including Talbots Gate/Court and Freshford Road Junction)
- Completion of Part Talbots Court Road Works on
06-12-24.
- Freshford Road Works commencing 09-12-24
- Work on the link road to the Freshford road and Freshford Road Roundabout is expected to be completed by early April 2025.
