Welcome to our February 2025 issue of our Neighbourhood Update for CBS Secondary School, Kilkenny. Please take a moment to read this notice about the upcoming works in your locality.
Works since last neighbourhood update
Works include:
Section 7A (School and associated site works)
- Ongoing internal fitout
- Ongoing externals including external school envelope and school roof finishes.
- External Site works ongoing including Kerbing, Paving, Footpaths and Topsoiling including School Field.
- Ongoing Boundary Treatments (Fencing)
- School Utility Connections Water and ESB completed. Gas ongoing
Section 7B (including East Dunningstown)
- CBS Access Road Tarmac Binder completed (no access to Public)
- Accommodation Works to Private Entrances along Dunningstown Road ongoing
- Both lanes opened on Dunninsgtown Road to public.
- Wearing course to Dunningstown Road due for Completion end of Feb.
Section 7C (including West Dunningstown)
- Both lanes opened on Dunninsgtown Road to public.
- Accommodation Works to Private Entrances along Dunningstown Road ongoing.
- Wearing course to Dunningstown Road due for Completion end of Feb.
Section 7D (including Talbots Gate/Court and Freshford Road Junction)
- Freshford Roadworks ongoing and no access to Talbots from Freshford Road (and vice versa) as per attached TMP
- Talbots Court and Talbots Gate Residents to enter Dunningstown Road allowing Road works on Freshford Road as per attached TMP.
All the necessary Health and Safety systems and traffic management will be put in place to always ensure your safety during these works.
CONSTRUCTION WORK HOURS & PARKING
Monday to Friday – as per planning. Saturday – as per planning.
Provision for parking has been made within our compound (Lands off Dunningstown Road South adjacent to the new school) for our construction workers and for all construction related traffic.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT
As the Main Contractor the health and safety of our workers and the public is a top priority for JJ Rhatigan/ABM.
It is important that children/teenagers understand that construction sites are not a safe place to play, and they should not try to enter construction sites at any time and/or MUST NOT ENTER SITE AT ANY TIME. We would
appreciate parents’ assistance in getting this point across to young children.
Construction sites are defined as high-risk work areas with those who work on site having specialised training and equipment to undertake their tasks.

UPCOMING WORKS
Section 7B and 7C
- Handover of Dunningstown Road to KCC (No access to CBS Access Road Remains)
- Section 7D (including Talbots Gate/Court and Freshford Road Junction)
- Handover of part Talbots Road to KCC
- Freshford Road Works ongoing
- Work on the link road to the Freshford road and Freshford Road Roundabout is expected to be completed by April 2025.
