UPDATE – June 2025

As May drew to a close, we are reached towards the final stages of Phase 1 on the St. Finian’s College project, with buildings X6, X5, X4, the chapel, and the music room now nearing completion. Final touch-ups are being carried out to prepare for handover, marking a significant milestone in this phase of the works.

Commissioning of electrical systems has been successfully completed across all Phase 1 buildings, and functional testing has confirmed that systems are performing as designed. This achievement reflects the collaborative effort between subcontractors, design teams, and site management in reaching compliance and operational readiness.

Externally, the pavement works have advanced well and are now nearly finished, with street lighting installed and operational across the site, bringing added functionality and safety to the external environment.

Looking ahead, Phase 2 has now officially commenced. At the front of X1, scaffolding is being erected in preparation for upcoming refurbishment works. Demolition activities have already taken place in this area, with the bubble structure fully demolished, opening up space for the next sequence of construction operations.

As we move through June, the focus will shift toward completing the handover process for the remaining Phase 1 buildings, while simultaneously ramping up structural works in Phase 2. The transition marks a key point in the project timeline, as we continue to build momentum toward full project delivery.

HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT

As the Main Contractor the health and safety of our workers and the public is a top priority for JJ Rhatigan/ABM. We have drafted a traffic management plan that will be implemented for the duration of the construction works to minimise the impact on the public and local residents. The site will be fully secured for the duration of the works and the vast majority of the works will be carried out within the confines of this area. It is important that children understand that construction sites are not a safe place to play, and they should not try to enter construction sites at any time. We would appreciate parents’ assistance in getting this point across to young children.

Construction sites are defined as high-risk work areas with those who work on site having specialised training and equipment to undertake their tasks. Once established on site JJ Rhatigan/ABM will be completing school visits / community initiatives to outline this.

UPCOMING WORKS

JJ Rhatigan/ABM will be providing regular Neighbourhood Update to give our neighbours information on the works to be carried out.

We apologies in advance for any inconvenience the construction activities may cause and also to thank you for your patience and consideration. Please be advised that it is our policy to ensure that all efforts be made to ensure minimal disruption to the neighbourhood for the duration of the construction period.
