Welcome to our July 2025 issue of our Neighbourhood Update for CBS Secondary School, Kilkenny. Please take a moment to read this notice about the upcoming works in your locality.
Works since last neighbourhood update include:
Section 7A (School and associated site works)
- Internal fitout to all zones complete
- External Works Complete.
- DE snagging both Internally and Externally.
- School Utility Connections including Sewer, Water, ESB and Gas completed. Telephone line connection ongoing.
Section 7B (including East Dunningstown)
- All Surface Course Completed
- Line Marking complete
- Landscaping complete
- Boundary Treatment nearing completion.
- Traffic Light Installation complete.
- Desnagging
Section 7C (including West Dunningstown)
- Both lanes opened on Dunninsgtown Road to public.
- Accommodation Works to Private Entrances along Dunningstown Road ongoing.
- Landscaping complete
- Line Marking Complete
- Desnagging
Section 7D (including Talbots Gate/Court and Freshford Road Junction)
- Freshford wearing course complete
- Ramps complete
- Landscaping complete
- Utility Diversions ongoing including ESB
- Remaining Street Lighting installation ongoing at Freshford.
All the necessary Health and Safety systems and traffic management will be put in place to always ensure your safety during these works.
Construction Work Hours & Parking
Monday to Friday – as per planning.
Saturday – as per planning.
Provision for parking has been made within our compound (Lands off Dunningstown Road South adjacent to the new school) for our construction workers and for all construction related traffic.
Health, Safety & Environment
As the Main Contractor the health and safety of our workers and the public is a top priority for JJ Rhatigan/ABM.
It is important that children/teenagers understand that construction sites are not a safe place to play, and they should not try to enter construction sites at any time and/or MUST NOT ENTER SITE AT ANY TIME. We would appreciate parents’ assistance in getting this point across to young children.
Construction sites are defined as high-risk work areas with those who work on site having specialised training and equipment to undertake their tasks. JJ Rhatigan & Company is proud to support and cooperate with the Considerate Constructors Scheme to commit to care regarding the appearance of our site, respect the community in which we work, protect the environment by our methods of working and choice of design and materials, secure everyone’s safety and value our workforce. We strive to maintain the highest standards on all our projects.

- Desnag School and Prepare to Handover to School
Section 7B and 7C
- Handover of Dunningstown Road to KCC
Section 7D (including Talbots Gate/Court and Freshford Road Junction)
- Complete Line Marking, ESB Diversions and Power up Street Lighting.
- Complete Road Safety Audit.
- Handover of Roads to KCC expected to be End July 2025.
